Generation and dosing

MDS

Compact system for the automatic generation of monochloramine (NH2Cl), for drinking water or industrial use. Two reagents of known concentration are dosed together with the dilution water into a PVDF reactor, up to 2 g/l (2,000 ppm).

  • Monochloramine from 50 to 5,000 g/h
  • Continuous, not pulsed, dosing
  • Ultrasonic flow meters
  • 7" touch HMI and Modbus TCP/IP

How it works

Monochloramine generation

Generation is managed by the controller and can be slaved to a flow meter on the water to be treated.

NH2Cl monochloramine molecule

Two reagents

The system combines ammonia (NH3) and sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) to produce monochloramine.

PVDF reactor of the MDS system

PVDF reactor

The two reagents and the dilution water are fed simultaneously into the reactor, up to a monochloramine concentration of 2 g/l.

Ultrasonic flow meter

Three safeguards

Monitoring of the reagent 1 pump, the reagent 2 pump and the minimum flow of dilution water, by means of ultrasonic flow meters.

Components

System components

Prisma pumps

Two self-priming diaphragm pumps with stepper motor, pump head with PTFE diaphragm and PVDF valves, for uniform, continuous dosing with precise flow control.

Prisma pumps →

Ultrasonic flow meters

One for each pump (“Control Flow”) and one for the dilution water: they provide the controller with real-time feedback and allow automatic adjustment of dosing.

Pressure gauges with diaphragm seal

They indicate the operating pressure of each pump; the diaphragm seal protects them from contact with the chemicals.

Back-pressure valve

It prevents siphoning even when the injection point is lower than the tanks.

Safety

Reagent low-level sensors, leak collection tray and safety doors.

Controller

7" colour touch HMI that manages generation and dosing; Ethernet port with Modbus TCP/IP.

Functions

Dosing modes

Automatic calculation

The controller calculates the quantities of the two reagents according to the required monochloramine output.

Concentration

The percentage concentration of the reagents used is set.

Proportional

In proportion to the 4-20 mA signal from the flow meter on the water to be treated.

Manual

Operation at the set flow rate; pump calibration can be performed from the controller.

Installations

Installation examples

Systems are supplied pre-assembled and tested, in the form best suited to the plant room: on a panel, in a cabinet or on a skid (with cover, in a box or on a frame), also tailor-made. Some examples.
