Selection guide

Which model to choose

State how the pump must dose, the product, the flow rate and the back pressure: the guide proposes the most suitable model and configuration of the series, among those listed in the technical data.

1Which product must it dose?
2Flow rate and back pressure

Answer the questions and enter flow rate and back pressure: the recommended model appears below.

Operation

Dosing modes

Constant (l/h or ml/h)

The pump doses at a constant frequency, according to the flow rate set in l/h or ml/h.

External constant

When the run contact closes, the pump doses the set quantity of chemical.

Pause / work

The pump runs the programmed cycle: during the WORK time it doses the set quantity of chemical; during the PAUSE time dosing is suspended.

cc / pulse

For each pulse received from the pulse-output water meter the pump doses the set quantity, with a resolution starting from 0.0001 cc.

Pulses

The pump doses in proportion to the pulses received from an external controller.

PPM

Dosing is calculated from the pulses of the pulse-output water meter and the set PPM value; the concentration of the chemical and the volume per stroke can be programmed.

Millilitres per quintal

Dosing is calculated from the pulses of the pulse-output water meter and the set MLQ value (millilitres per quintal).

Batch

A pulse from an external contact starts the dosing of the set quantity; pause and work cycles can be programmed.

mA

The 0-4/20 mA current signal controls dosing proportionally, between the set minimum and maximum values.

Volt

The 0-10 V voltage signal controls dosing proportionally, between the set minimum and maximum values.

Timer

Up to 16 weekly on/off timers can be programmed, during which the pump doses the set quantity of chemical.

Technology

Micro-injection dosing

The stepper motor and the control software deliver the product almost continuously, without the pulsations typical of solenoid pumps.

Stepper motor: 4,800 steps

Stepper motor: 4,800 steps

Thanks to the stepper motor, the Prisma adjusts dosing electronically, both in frequency and in the volume of each injection, dividing it into 4,800 micro-injections (turndown ratio 4,800:1): the software distributes the steps according to the mode and parameters set, for the most continuous dosing possible, comparable to that of a syringe and virtually free of pulsations. The pump has no mechanical stroke adjustment.

Slow mode

Slow mode

Slow mode reduces the suction speed and, with it, the maximum flow rate, down to 30% of the nominal value.
Adjustable maximum flow rate: the pump automatically recalculates the distribution of the 4,800 steps over the new maximum flow rate, like having 70 pumps in one (from 100% to 30%).
Viscous liquids: slower suction makes priming and dosing of highly viscous products, up to 10,000 cPs, simpler and more reliable.

Remote control

Remote control and connectivity

The Prisma pump supports two-way remote control: from the cloud portal, via Wi-Fi, settings can be changed, operation can be checked and alarms can be received; alternatively, the pump can be integrated into a PLC via Modbus RTU, or it can send a read-only 4/20 mA signal.

Remote control of the Prisma pump via the cloud portal

Integrated Wi-Fi Optional

Allows connection to the Nimbus cloud portal to change settings, check operation and receive alarms, such as the chemical running out.

Integrated Modbus RTU Optional

Integration into your PLC: all pump parameters can be managed from your control interface.

4/20 mA output Optional, as an alternative to Wi-Fi and Modbus

Current signal proportional to the instantaneous flow rate, to be fed to your PLC / SCADA for remote monitoring of operation (read-only).

Wi-Fi and Modbus RTU can be used together; with the 4/20 mA output neither Wi-Fi nor Modbus is available.

The NIMBUS portal

A single account brings together all registered installations, each with its own devices: the web portal, free of charge and with no subscription, can be accessed from PC, Mac, tablet and smartphone and allows every parameter to be both viewed and changed, with an encrypted connection and protected access.

Yellow display: alarm that does not stop the pump; red: pump stopped. Active alarms can be viewed under MORE › INFO › ALARMS and can be assigned to the alarm relay output.

Priming from the display

Connect the tubing, open the bleed valve, select PRIMING on the display, set the time and start; close the bleed valve as soon as the chemical comes out. The procedure is required at first start-up, after long periods of inactivity or when there is air in the pump head.

Flow rate check

The TEST function runs the pump for the set time (1 – 60 minutes): measuring the chemical drawn in makes it possible to determine the actual flow rate under the installation conditions.

Periodic checks

Every three months check bolts and seals; once a year check that flow rate, pressure and power match the rating plate data. With abrasive or corrosive chemicals, shorten the intervals.

If the problem persists, contact us. Before sending the pump for servicing, empty the pump head of chemical and dry it.

Summary
